The Cameroon Super Cup also Called Trophee Des Champions is a Match organized by the Cameroon Football Federation (FECAFOOT) between the winners of the MTN Elite One Championship and winners of the Cameroon Cup. 

It is usually played at the start of the football season to determine who has bragging rights for the new season.

Throughout history, the Cameroon Super Cup has been used to showcase the diverse cultural heritage of the country and celebrate achievements of the football season. In 2022, the Cameroon Super Cup preceded the Cameroon Ballon D'Or award Ceremony.

Origins Of The Cameroon Super Cup?

The Cameroon Super Cup was first organized in 1999 and it was called the Roger Miller Super Cup. Sable de Batie were Inaugural winners beating Canon of Yaoundé (1-0) to emerge as first ever Cameroon super Cup winners. 

The competition continued till 2002 with  Kumbo Strikers, Fovu Club, and Mount Cameroon FC winners in the year, 2000,2001 and 2002 respectively. 

Coton Sports of Garoua won both the League and Cameroon Cup in 2003 and 2004 so no cup was organized.  

In 2019, FECAFOOT announced that the Super Cup would be played, for the first time in 15 years. Stade Renard of beat UMS Loum to emerge winners. 

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the competition was again paused until 2022. 

The 2022 season came with a unique Dynamic as a new FECAFOOT executive committee took Charge.

Coton Sports of Garoua finished as winners of the MTN Elite One Championship as well as the Cameroon Cup, which meant that they would face ELITE One runners up, Bamboutos de Mbouda. 

Bamboutos de Mbouda emerged victorious that year after beating Coton Sport of Garoua 1-0 in the showpiece game. 

The 2023 Edition

The 2023 edition of the Cameroon Super Cup will be 7th edition, and will be played between MTN Elite One winners Coton Sport of Garoua and Cameroon Cup winners Fovu Club of Baham. 

The encounter is set to take place at the Amadou Ahidjo Stadium on the 30th of September 2023, three days after the opening game of the 2023/2024 ELITE One Championship.
