Preparations towards the upcoming tournament could not have been any better for Jean Pierre Fiala's charges as they wrapped up their Tunisian tour with a 2-1 win against Etoile Du Sahel. Goals from Yondjo Matah Angel and Harouna Djibrine ensured the young Lions finished their Tunisian tour with 3 wins out of 3.

U17 head coach Jean Pierre Fiala had earlier declared that the objective for this tournament will be to finish in the last four, which will give them a qualification ticket for the U17 world cup later this year. The signs have been positive for the Young Lions, who will enter the competition as defending champions after their predecessors won the 2017 edition in Tanzania.

How many Friendly Matches have the U17 Lions played in?

The Team has played a total of 10 friendly games, winning eight of them and scoring 27 goals in the process. Their final phase of preparations saw the Lions travel to Tunisia, where they faced Esperance de Tunis, Club Africain, and Etoile du Sahel, winning all three games.

Yondjo Angel, Harouna Djibrine, and Esono Rodrigue all shone brightly, meaning Fiala's young guns will land in Algeria in High spirits.

When does the 2023 Edition of the U17 African Nations Cup Start?

The 15th Edition of the U17 AFCON will officially kick off on the 29th of April 2023, with the match pitting hosts Algeria against Somalia. The competition will be the first contested by 12 teams instead of the usual 8.

Cameroon plays its first game against newcomers South Sudan on the 1st of May before confronting other Group C opponents Mali and Burkina Faso on the 4th and 7th of May, respectively.
