MTN ELITE ONE: Matchday 21 Review

We start this week's review with the fierce three-way fight for the playoffs in Group A. It's locked between Canon De Yaounde, Coton Sports De Garoua UMS De Loum. All three teams are separated by two points, with Canon De Yaounde leading the way with 35 points. 

UMS De Loum registered a narrow 1-0 victory over Eding, While Coton and Canon picked up 2-0 wins over PWD Bamenda and Aigle de la Menoua, respectively. 

In group B, Gazelle De Garoua joined Bamboutous De Mbouda in the playoffs; the top two teams played out a 4-goal thriller in Garoua, with Bamboutous on the wrong side of a 3-1 scoreline.

In Group B, Yafoot joined Dragon De Yaounde as a relegated team, confirming their drop to the ELITE TWO after suffering a 4-1 defeat to Fovu De Baham. The relegation battle is more intense in Group A, with as many as eight teams still facing relegation ahead of the last round of games.

What Next for the MTN ELITE ONE CHAMPIONSHIP?

The 2022/23 football season draws its curtains this weekend, with all teams playing their 22nd and last game. Group A is still very delicately poised, with the two playoff spots in Group A still up for grabs. The relegation battle is even more intense. The teams from 4th to 11th are all fighting against relegation.

Group B playoff candidates have been confirmed, with Gazelle of Garoua and Bamboutous De Mbouda picking up the tickets. Yafoot and Dragon have been relegated, but the relegation playoff spot will be decided on the final day.
