After Garoua in 2022, Douala becomes the second City to host the MTN ELITE ONE Championship playoffs.
BREAKING NEWS: Douala To Host 2023 Edition of MTN ELITE ONE Championship Playoffs
The announcement was made in an official communique from Cameroon's Football Federation, FECAFOOT, on 28th April 2023.
The communique also confirms the dates of the U-20 tournament as well as the dates for the kick-off of the 2023 edition of the Cameroon Cup. The draws for the Cup of Cameroon will be done on the 2nd of May, 2023, at the conference hall of the Yaounde Omnisport Stadium.
Below are details of the communique:
- MTN ELITE ONE Championship Playoffs: 14th to 21st May 2023 (Douala)
- Under-20 Regional Trophy: 3rd to 7th of May, 2023 (Yaounde)
- Cup of Cameroon Round of 64: 24th May 2023
- Cup of Cameroon round of 32: 31st May 2023
What is the MTN ELITE ONE Championship playoff?
The MTN ELITE ONE Championship playoff is a mini-tournament that decides who is crowned overall ELITE ONE champion. The mini-tournament is played among each ELITE ONE group's top two teams at the end of the regular season.
So far, two of the four playoff spots have already been confirmed, with Bamboutous of Mbouda and Gazelle of Garoua sealing the top two spots in Group B.
The battle in group A is still fierce, with the trio of Canon Sportif, Coton Sports, and UMS of Loum locked in a breathtaking three-horse race.
The regular season of the MTN ELITE ONE championship enters its last playing day on the 29th of April, 2023, with a host of crucial fixtures on the cards.
