Elite Two: Fans of Lausanne FC Beat Referees Almost to Dead

On Wednesday, April 26, 2023, Lausanne FC fans and supporters attacked the referees that officiated their match against Rangers FC of Bafut. 

The match day 25, played at the Olembe Annex Stadium in Yaounde, ended with Rangers FC of Bafut beating Lausanne FC 2 goals to 1.

According to reports, the attack resulted from Lausanne FC's complaint of controversial officiating. 

When the match ended, according to videos circulating online, the referees could be seen being manhandled by the supporters. 


Following this attack, FECAFOOT released a communique condemning the act on Thursday, April 27, 2023. 

The communique signed by the Secretary General of the federation, Blaise Djounag, condemned the attack on the referees stating that the act is contrary to the rules and values that guide the practice of football in Cameroon.

Hence, the federation has promised to take necessary actions to ensure that perpetrators are punished according to the law.

The goals for Rangers FC of Bafut were scored by Nsoh Fabrice and Kache Boris, respectively, with Kache Boris scoring his 14th goal this season and still making his name a top scorer.  

Rangers FC of Bafut is 7th on the Standings of the MTN Elite Two with 33 points.
