Weekend Report 3: Cameroonian Footballers Abroad

In our third edition, we will look at the performances of Andre Onana, Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene, Danny Namaso, Jean-Pierre Nsame, Martin Hongla, and Bryan Mbeumo.

Let's dive in.

1. Andre Onana

After a spectacular performance at the quarter-finals of the Uefa Champions, keeping six clean sheets in nine games, Andre Onana could not help his side Inter Milan as they lost to Monza 1-0 and dropped to the 5th spot in the Italia Serie A table.

Andre Onana's performances this season have attracted interest from several big clubs like Chelsea FC, Tottenham Hotspur, etc.

2. Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene

This weekend, in its 5th day of play, the Russian Women's National Championship saw CSKA Moscow of Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene's play Ryazan VDV.

The club from the Russian capital beat their opponent with a score of 4-0.

The captain of the Indomitable Lions scored twice and delivered 2 assists. With this victory, CSKA Moscow retains the lead in the championship with 5 wins in as many matches.

Gabrielle Aboudi Onguene has been in fine form scoring 4 goals and 4 assists in five games.

3. Jean-Pierre Nsame

With sixteen goals in 28 games this season for Young Boys, Jean-Pierre Nsame has been on fire. His side faced fellow Swiss side Basel this weekend in a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. Jean-Pierre Nsame scored the first goal of the game with an assist from Ulisses Garcia.

His goals have helped to keep his side at the top of the Swiss league.

4. Danny Namaso

In a challenging game that saw the referee dish out 7 yellow cards and Otavio miss a penalty, Cameroonian international Danny Namaso Loader scored the winning goal to help his side secure a 2-1 over Santa Clara.

The goal in the 80th minute from Danny Namaso, who was introduced in the game in the 67th minute,  helped his side to secure the second spot in the Portuguese league with four points from the league leader Benfica.

5. Martin Hongla

Cameroonian Midfielder Martin Hongla's side Real Valladolid has been fighting against relegation and faced a tough test on the 29th day of play in the Spanish La Liga. They face in-form Spanish La Liga side Villareal fighting for a Champions League spot.

Villareal created plenty of chances without being effective. On the other hand, Real Valladolid put quality in possession and defending, whether it was those who started the game or the substitutes.

In this context, Real Valladolid offered one of their best performances of the season.

Their composure helped them beat Villareal 2-1 to move up to the 14 spots on the La Liga table.

The match saw the Cameroonian Midfielder used as a defender; he was later substituted in the 70th minute after a beautiful performance.

6. Bryan Mbeumo

Traveling to Wolverhampton this Saturday, Bryan Mbeumo and Brentford were beaten 2-0 on the 31st day of the Premier League.

Wolverhampton fully deserved their victory (2-0) this Saturday against Brentford and Bryan Mbeumo during the 31st day of the Premier League. Better organized and more efficient in the last gesture, the Wolves dominated the Bees without getting too embarrassed.

Bryan Mbeumo and his side Brentford after their loss to Wolverhampton, now go 3 games without a win.

7. Jean-Charles Castelleto and Ignatius Ganago

Beaten at Auxerre (2-1), Ignatius Ganago, Jean-Charles Castelletto, and Nantes are getting dangerously close to the red zone.

Bad operation for Ignatius Ganago, Jean-Charles Castelletto and Nantes. Traveling to Auxerre on Sunday, for the 31st day of Ligue 1, the Canaries were beaten 2-1. A result that does not help the affairs of the Yellows and Greens, who are only 2 points ahead of Strasbourg, the first relegation.
