The U20 Lions who were drawn in Group C endured a dangling start to the competition with a one-all draw in their first game against Lebanon.
The Lions opened the scoring through Eding de la Lekie's Peter Nebamkia, taking a one nil lead to the break, before being pecked back by the Lebanese in the second half of a one-sided game at the Tata Raphael Stadium in Kinshasa.

Canon de Yaoundé defender Ahmed Montapon has impressed during the games contributing massively at both ends of the pitch.
Ahmed scored the all-important winner against Niger with a well-placed header, before intercepting a last-minute lob and acrobatically sending the ball above the crossbar and ensuring a vital win that sent them into the Semi-final.
The Under-20 Lions are set to face Niger for a second time in 5days when the two meet at the Semi-final stage of the competition on Friday 4th August 2023 at the Stade De Martyrs at 6 pm.
