Matchday Six: Dynamo de Douala Returns to Winning Ways With Huge Win in Yaounde

Dynamo Football Club of Douala was the big winner of matchday six in the ongoing MTN ELITE ONE Championship after overcoming Canon Sportif de Yaounde in the top match at the Yaounde Omnisport stadium.

The game between Canon and Dynamo of Yaounde was the Key fixture as the MTN ELITE returned after a 10-day hiatus.

Full of anticipation and a tremendous prematch frenzy, both teams rose to the occasion, each playing their part in front of an impressive crowd at the Yaounde Omnisports Stadium.

Ngon A Ti a ti and Leonel Ateba were the scorers for Dynamo as the Bon ba Djob recovered from an emotional loss at home to Bamboutos on Matchday five to beat pre-game favorites Canon de Yaounde.

The game started in electric fashion, with both teams exchanging blows in a breathless opening 10 minutes. Dynamo looked the most likely score, and the visitors duly broke the deadlock 15 minutes in.

Right back, Thomas Eta Bawak floated a hopeful ball towards the Canon penalty area. A one-two between two Dynamo attackers resulted in a fantastic through pass to Ngon a Tiati, who slotted cooly past Jordain Mbeynassem in the Canon goal.

Dynamo took a well-deserved lead to the break but couldn't extend their lead upon resumption.

Canon de Yaounde seized the game in the second half and carved out several scoring opportunities, which they should have capitalized on.

The pressure paid off midway into the second half when Alexa Benga finished a team move to put the canonites level.

Canon had registered two draws in five games before this match, and a third draw was on the cards here, but the inevitable Leonel Ateba had other plans.

The midfielder danced through the Canon defense and scored a spectacular goal in added time, giving all three points to Coach Clement Aroga's men.

The win places Dynamo de Douala at the top of Group A with 13 points, one ahead of last season's runners-up, Bamboutos, who put on a show in the west regional derby against Aigle de la Menoua.

Canon de Yaounde continues their stuttering start to the Elite One Season, where they have won just two games in six.

What Next For Canon and Dynamo?

Canon de Yaounde travels to second-placed Bamboutos de Mbouda on matchday seven, while Dynamo welcomes Colombe du Dja in Douala.
