A few weeks ago, it was a rumor that Michael Ngadeu (32) could leave La Gantoise before the end of the regular season and join the Chinese Super League. It is now official by KAA Gent that the Cameroonian international will leave after 4 years at the Ghelamco Arena.

“After almost 4 years in Ghent, Michael Ngadeu has chosen to leave us. Our defender received a lucrative offer from Beijing Guoan, which he could not refuse, ”we read in the Ghent press release, informing Walfoot.

Ngadeu was coming to the end of his contract next June; the Belgian club will obtain compensation for the move.

Michel Louwagie explains: “Of course, we had hoped to keep Ngadeu with us until the end of the season (…). The financial offer that Beijing made to him was unfortunately too high for us”.

Ngadeu joined Gent from Slavia Prague in 2019. He made 176 appearances for the club in all competitions and scored 11 goals.

Boasting 54 caps, the Cameroon international smashed all odds to win the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations and was the country's top scorer for the tournament.
