The Indomitable Lions of Cameroon have picked up their qualification ticket for the 34th Edition of the TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations to be held in côté Ivoire Next Year. The Lions Beat Burundi 3-0 in the final group game of Group C.

Second-half Goals from Bryan Mbuemo, Christopher Wooh, and Vincent Aboubakar ensured the presence of the West African giants in the  Continental Showpiece.

It was a game of two halves, with the Swallows of Burundi having the better chances early on.

The men of coach Étienne Ndayiragije started the brighter of the two sides, with Rodrigue Kirongozi drawing a smart save from the excellent ANDRÉ Onana in the 3rd minute.

The Manchester United Goalkeeper made several point-blank saves to keep the game goalless at the break.

Cameroon's best chance of the first half fell to Bryan Mbuemo when he raced at goal after a sublime pass from Karl Toko Ekambi, but the Brentford man's strike was well blocked by Onesime Rukundo.

Cameroon came racing out of the blocks in the second half, and Mbuemo benefited from a Defensive error to slot past Goalkeeper Onesime for the opener less than a minute after the restart.

Rennes defender Christopher Wooh made it 2 nil shortly afterward after Burundi failed to deal with a corner.

The Swallows tried their best to reduce the deficit, but it was Cameroon who had the final say, captain Vincent Aboubakar scoring a third in the stoppage time to add gloss to the scoreline.

Cameroon qualified at the top of Group C with 7 points and will be joined by Namibia, who finished second.

What's Next For The Indomitable Lions?

Coach Rigobert Song will now turn his attention towards preparations for AFCON 2023, but the Indomitable Lions will next be in action in November 2023 as they get their World Cup 2026 qualification campaign underway.
