The Morocco vs. Liberia AFCON 2023 qualifier match has been postponed. This decision was announced by the Confederation of African Football, CAF, on Saturday, 9th September 2023.
CAF made the decision following the earthquake in Morocco late Friday, 8th September 2023, which resulted in people losing their lives and hundreds injured.
The match was initially scheduled to take place on Saturday, 9 September 2023, at 19:00 (Morocco Time) in Agadir but has now been postponed to a date yet to be announced.
The African Football Governing body expressed condolences to the families who lost their loved ones, to the Fédération Royale de Football, and to the people of Morocco.

In the communique, it was stated that a moment of silence will be observed before the start of all remaining AFCON 2023 Qualifier matches.
It is heartening to see CAF taking this step to pay tribute to the victims of the tragedy in Morocco. It shows their commitment to standing in solidarity with those affected by this unfortunate incident.
Reports suggest that rescuers in Morocco are encountering challenges in locating survivors for the second day following a potent earthquake that struck the area. The earthquake purportedly caused over 2,100 fatalities, injured hundreds of thousands of individuals, and devastated several isolated villages near the epicenter.
Morocco has already qualified for the Showpiece next year and currently sits second in Group K, one point behind South Africa.
