MTN Elite One: Match Day Five Preview

So we take a look at this weekend's games with emphasis on the games with high stakes:

Dynamo de Douala Vs Bamboutos De Mbouda

Stade De la Reunification Annex

kick-off: 3.30pm

We start our preview in Pool A where the leaders Dynamo de Douala take on last year's runners up Bamboutos of Mbouda. The Bon Ba Djob have now won 3 on the spin since their opening day draw against AS Fortuna.

Dynamo have scored 7 goals in the last 3 games and boast the joint second best defence with 3 goals conceded.

A victory in this game will put the Douala-based team firmly in control as the newly-promoted side seek to mark their 25-year-absence from the big time with a title challenge.

New recruits Leonel Ateba and Eta Bawak were not in the squad that faced PWD Bamenda in round four, but Dynamo dispatched the Abakwa boys in emphatic fashion, showing the team's strength in depth.

Bamboutos de Mbouda haven't got a plain sailing early days, but the Mangwa boys will look to put up a good show after an impressive 4-0 win against AS Fortuna last time out.

Bamboutos are 5th with 6 points on the board having won 2 games and lost two after round four.

Victoria United Vs Apejes De Mfou

Centenary Stadium, Limbe

kick-off: 3.00pm

Victoria United earned promotion to the top tier of Cameroon football as ELITE Two champions last season.

Their season got off to the perfect start when they beat Fauve Azure in the opening fixture of this season's Elite One Championship.

Things have gone terribly bad since that opening day Victory in Yaounde, and Opopo has lost all three games after.

President Nkwain Valentine was bullish after his team's second defeat on match day three, stating boldly that OPOPO was going for the ELITE ONE title, but Victoria United could find themselves bottom of Group B at the end of match day 5 if fellow strugglers UMS Loum and YOSA pick up points this weekend.

APEJES on their part have been everything and nothing at the same time. they've not been brilliant but the boys of Billong Pierre Cyril will be confident of kick-starting their ELITE One Campaign against a Victoria United side that is low on confidence.

PWD Bamenda Vs AS Fortuna

Stade Bamendzi-Baffoussam

kick-off: 1.30pm

Cameroon Cup 2023 runners up PWD of Bamenda started the Championship with what was supposed to be a morale-boosting win over Bamboutos of Mbouda on Matchday One, but the Abakwa Boys have not won any game is that opening day victory.

The match against AS Fortuna will be close, but Coach Nke Jean Dieudonne will want to get his boys back on track with a victory here.
